While some of our members rode under the color of the ALR or Patriot Guard we had quite a few people attend.  Those who made the ride were Frank B., Jim & Ann P., Mike & Sylvia S., Rev., Susan S., Lois C. & Bill G., Chuck F., Robi & Bear C., and yours truly.

On Saturday March 30th the Hearts on Wheels held a Charity Event for Detective Mike Torres of the Marana PD.  Mike is suffering from an aggressive form of cancer.  Mike is married to another detective, Meredith, with TPD.  Mike is known for his 3-piece suits, silk ties, and Fedora hats that he wears every day at the office.

82 bikes, and over 125 people registered for this motorcycle ride  Many police officers from agencies around Tucson as well as State and Federal Agencies rode in this event.  From BKAZIX were Paul H, Ken McK., Stan & Patti T, and yours truly.  Our own Stan T. gave a prayer for a safe ride.  Below is the news article from KVOA that was posted that evening:

On Saturday March 10th we had our monthly breakfast ride.  This month we drove to Green Valley to have breakfast at the Arizona Family Restaurant.  We had a good turnout this month with members Frank B., Bud W., Bob F., Twan V., Rich & Debbie F., John F., John H., Gary A., Bill C., and yours truly.  We actually had one more member who WAS going to go.  He made it to the meeting place in Tucson but was too under the weather to make the ride.  We all hope Norm N. gets better soon.  Here are a few pictures of breakfast.

After breakfast John J., Gary A., Bob F., Twan V., and yours truly headed to Nogales to Support the American Legion Riders.  They are a new Chapter and was having a Poker Run.  Here is a picture of the group.

On Saturday November 11, 2017 there was the 2nd Annual Memorial Charity Ride for Nick Morelos.  This fund was established by the American Legion Oro Valley Riders Chapter 132 in Nick’s honor and is for the purpose of providing emergency assistance to Veterans in Need.  Myself and Al made this ride.  The ride started at Old Fathers on Ina.  From there we made stops at Tommys on Stone, Bashful Bandit on Speedway, Buffet Bar & Crockpot (Tucson’s oldest “dive” Bar),  and then finally the last stop was Chuy’s on Thornydale.

We even had a SURPRISE guest when we were at the Bashful Bandit.  None other than Guys Atchley happened by and took pictures of us.  Here are a few pictures from the ride.
