The Arizona Centennial Ride is officially in high gear with the mascot for the entire Centennial being a motorcycle and the culminating high profile event will be the Arizona Centennial Motorcycle Ride led by the Copper Chopper and Dierks Bentley. The ride will take place on Saturday, February 11th, 2012, will begin at Mesa Riverview located at the Loop 202 and Dobson Road in Mesa, AZ, 1061 N. Dobson Rd., and conclude at the state capitol. There will be a Live Band in the street, food and drink, which will be available at Cactus Moon and Matta’s as well as a huge food and beer garden in the roundabout.

The ride will cover approximately 15 miles, will be police escorted by DPS, Mesa, Tempe, and Phoenix PDs. The route will travel West on the Loop 202 to I-10 through downtown Phoenix, past Chase Field, and West on Jefferson Street to the state capitol where we will end at the Centennial Best Fest featuring a performance by Dierks Bentley. This will absolutely put a rumble in Downtown Phoenix like they have never heard before.

The cost for the ride is $25 per person, which includes participation in the ride, a commemorative t-shirt, a ride pin, and one (1) ticket for the drawing to win the AZ Copper Chopper. The t-shirt and ride pin will be in limited quantity so you will want to pre-register to guarantee that you get these collectible items. Once they are gone that is it. There will be a very cool patch that will be available to purchase at registration.

Registration will be from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. in Mesa Riverview on Saturday, February 11, 2012. Please plan to check in at registration with a photo ID or print this confirmation email and bring it with you the day of the ride.

You will be asked to sign a liability waiver prior to receiving your commemorative t-shirt and pin. You will receive a confirmation of your AZ Copper Chopper ticket in a separate email. We also ask riders to arrive at least an hour before the start of the ride so that we may process everyone on time before the Ride begins

You can register on line to make sure that you get your items that will be picked up the day of the ride. This would make a perfect stocking stuffer or Christmas gift for the rider in your family. Go to:

Arizona Centennial Ride for more information and to register online. This will be a huge one-day motorcycle event that will be high energy, lots of motorcycles, and a once in a lifetime opportunity to ring in 100 years of statehood for the 48th state in the nation.

Well we had our last breakfast ride of 2011.  Making the breakfast were a total of eleven members, family, and friends.  We even had the pleasure of Terry showing up for breakfast.  Many of you will remember that Terry was a previous member.  He has found the time to rejoin our chapter.  Those who made the ride were Terry, Mark Robinson, John Howe, Norman Hubbard and his wife Mary, Mike Stoddard and his friend Ken, Twan, and Joseph McCroy and his wife Amy, and your truly.  Joesph is in the Army at Ft. Huachuca.  Once he leaves the Army he hopes to get his POST certification from Arizona so he can join our chapter.  Here are a few photos.

Well we had our 2011 Christmas Dinner on Saturday December 3rd.  This was a Pot Luck at Alan Stewart & Susan Wagner’s house.  This was the third time they have had us in their home.

Those who made the festivities were: Ray & Donna Valenzuela, Jeff & Kelly Jamieson, Rich & Deb Fancher, Bill & Antje Calkins, Will & Karla Hanson, Bill & Jackie Daily, Stan & Patti Thibaut, Norm Hubbard, Will & Gisele Harris, myself & Bev, and of course Alan & Susan. Bill & Jackie Daily traveled all the way from Strawberry, AZ.

The gift exchange was a hoot.  If you have never done one of these it is really fun.  Sometimes called a Chinese gift exchange it is simple.  Everyone gets a number based on the number of gifts and guests.  The person with number 1 starts.  After number 1 goes then number 2.  However number 2 can steal number 1’s gift or pick an unknown.  Then number 3 goes.  Number 3 can pick a wrapped gift or steal number 1 or number 2’s gift.  This goes on and on.  The only stipulation is that a gift can only be stolen twice.  If a gift is stolen then the person who had their gift stolen can steal someone else’s or pick a new unwrapped gift.  There was a gingerbread house, lottery tickets, Elvis Presley coasters, bar-b-que utensils, farting Santa, stuffed toys, light toilet seat (you have to see to believe) and much, much more.

I started the turkey around 5:00 pm.  Many who came had never had a deep fried turkey before.  You can see the pictures from when I put it in and after taking it out.  Because there were so many pictures taken during the party I’ve broken down the photos into four separate albums.

Put the dates of January 27 through 29, 2012 on your calendar as all members from the SWC chapters are invited to join us for a relaxing, no-agenda gathering. You can go on scenic rides, do the tourist thing, just sit around, but most of all enjoy the camaraderie with others. Rooms are now available at a reduced rate of $79.00 per night at the Shiloh Inn located at 1875 N. Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs. Our Southwest Conference Chairman and International Representative, Guy O’Connor has secured the rate for the hotel for Blue Knights not only for this coming year but also for 2013. This event that is totally non-structured is growing each year.

Make your reservations early by calling: (760) 320-7676 and letting them know that you are with the Blue Knights to secure the lower rate.
